Today’s guest blogger, Nicole Kaney, is the owner of NK Productions Wedding Planning (NKP), a wedding planning company in Sarasota. She has almost 20 years of experience in the events and wedding industry. Nicole’s mission is to direct every detail of a wedding with creative flair and unparalleled service.

The NK Productions Team has grown to 5 LEAD coordinators and a full time office manager, office assistant and, not to mention our “day of” wedding team.

NKP executes 75 weddings a year and is celebrating 11 years of business. Nicole and her team can be seen planning weddings often at the Ritz-Carlton of Sarasota, The Powell Crosley Estate, Selby Gardens, Gasparilla Inn and the Ringling Museum of Art for brides and grooms locally and from all over the US and Europe. Getting ready on the Wedding Day!

Most of our brides spend at least 4 hours during the wedding day with their bridesmaids getting their hair and makeup done. We have some tips below to help make the getting ready part go smooth along with a few other suggestions for the day!

1. Have all jewelry, shoes, and invitation suite ready to be photographed

This is important as it will save time for the photographer on the day of to have everything in one place ready to be photographed. There are a lot of people in/out of the bridal suite so keeping that organized and ready will help the photographer. Most of our clients pass that off to us in advance so we are responsible for making sure that’s taken care of!

2. Make sure everyone has food

It’s always nice to have lunch delivered when everyone is getting ready. We want to make sure the bride and wedding party has something to eat to last them through the big day. I also encourage snacks and lots of water throughout the day!

3. Have a speaker and wedding playlist

When celebrating your big day and getting ready it’s always fun to have music playing! A portable bluetooth speaker and a playlist made by yourself or a bridesmaid is always a good idea. We have walked into quite rooms before with the TV on and it’s not the most festive atmosphere. You spend a long time getting ready and that sets the mood for a celebration!

4. Include timing for doing gifts

This includes gifts to bridesmaids, moms, dads, etc. and exchanging gifts between bride and groom. Be sure to schedule in time for this while getting ready as you don’t want to be rushed during this special time.

5. Have an extra pair of comfortable shoes

As a bride or bridesmaid it’s always nice to bring an extra pair of comfortable shoes for during reception. After being in heels all day, having a comfortable option to change into is ideal. Please have this packed and ready to go so you don’t forgot them!
