Blush and Grey Destination Beach Wedding | St. Petersburg, Florida

Working that nine to five can be such a drag. Right?

But what if that nine to five allowed for you to travel all over the country? What if it allowed for you to see new places, experience new things, and meet new people. Sometimes life has this way of having a plan that you never knew existed. So that when you are traveling for work (bored and alone) you happen to go out of your comfort zone a little bit, and before you know it, you’re taking a beautiful girl to dinner (at your least favorite restaurant). A date that lead to so much more- a date that lead to finding your everything.

A love that spanned across the United States.

A love that lead to relocating semi-permanently to New Hampshire and then all the way to Florida. A love that lead to a proposal in Italy. You see, we know that we might be a little bit biased (because Megan and Michael have turned into legitimate friends of ours since their engagement session last July), but when we say that Megan and Michael are a Cooney Couple, there is no exaggeration.

They embody it all.

Hard work, dedication, selflessness, and our favorite part? They are in love with their best friend. So much so, that when it began to downpour on their wedding day, we were certain that even Megan and Michael- one of our most easy going couples – must have been nervous. And you guys- we don’t just mean it was sprinkling. Oh no. This was one of the worst storms we have seen on this cost of Florida in a long time. It was so bad, in fact, that on our way to Megan and Michel’s wedding, there was a severe weather alert and we had to pull aside and go into a Walgreens because of a tornado watch.

Y’all. It was bad.

So we got to the hotel, parked our car, and pulled out our umbrellas. And in that instant, it was like a scene of Mary Poppins. Our umbrellas turned inside out, Shauna began to walk backwards- ever so slowly- from the wind speed, and Jordon’s tie began to flap around in the wind.

It was really bad.

We scuttled off into the hotel (a little bit wet), and immediately began finding backup plans. Where would our plan B, C, and D be for their first look and portraits if the rain continued? Because being type A like we are, we gotta have a backup for our backup. So we hopped into the elevator, walking up to Megans room ready. Prepared.

We had a backup plan for our backup plan.

We knocked on her door, token a deep breath (because y’all- this was their destination beach wedding  that they had been dreaming of!) and then the door opened. We smiled and said hello to Megan’s mother, and then we saw her across the room. In her adorable leggings and monogrammed sweatshirt.

With the biggest smile on her face.

Megan’s signature smile. We walked up, gave her the biggest hug ever, and told her we had a plan. And do you know what she did? She smiled at us and said “I’m okay. It is all going to be perfect.” Tears welled up in Shauna’s eyes and she told Megan “On our wedding day I said the same thing. As long as I married met best friend- that was all that mattered.” Megan looked at Shauna and said,

“Exactly.”

Our couples are the best. And it isn’t because they stress over details day and night. It isn’t because they nitpick until they find the perfect venue. It isn’t because they pout and cry until they get what they want. No. It is because they are like Megan and Michael, and at the end of the day, they know.

They know.

They know that at the end of the day, they will marry their best friend, and with us by their side, they will have the most beautiful photos to look back on. And one day, they will turn the pages of their heirloom album with their children and they will tell the story of the storm.

The storm that couldn’t even stop their love.

Megan and Michael, do we even have to write this message to you? We mean, we’re pretty sure that you already know just how much we love you two from all of the happy tears shed on your wedding day with you two (and thats not even including all of the happy tears shed leading up to your wedding day!). But just in case you’ve forgotten, let us say it one more time. Thank you. Thank you for finding us on instagram. Thank you for letting us show your love off in your engagement photos. Thank you for trusting us. With your photos, your wedding planning, and with every other step along the way. Thank you for being at every single Cooney Couple date night. Thank you for getting dinner with us even when it isn’t an official Cooney Couple date night. Thank you for being such an example of what a Cooney Couple is. And mostly, thank you for becoming the friends that you have. We are so thankful for you two and we cannot wait to continue to watch your legacy of love grow as we sit by your side, with a cocktail in hand.

Hugs and lots of love,

Shauna and Jordon
