We pulled onto Little Gasparilla Island in Boca Grande about an hour before their session would begin. The sun was hot, but the breeze was refreshing and cool. We walked around the town to pass time and scout locations for the session, admiring all of the adorable little shops and restaurants. Being from a major tourist area like Clearwater, Florida, we were surprised at how quiet and calm the town was.
How relaxing the atmosphere felt.
Sydney, Brett, and her family had long loved Little Gasparilla. Her family had a vacation home there, and they loved going to the Island to fish and get away from the hustle and bustle of every day life. So as the years passed on, the small little island slowly accumulated years worth of memories.
Like the moment when Brett proposed to Sydney.
Underneath the famous Banyan trees on one of Little Gasparilla’s most famous streets, Brett proposed to Sydney, just next to her grandparents golf cart. A family momentum that had been passed down for generations (and surviving even the worst of hurricanes). So when Sydney and Brett planned their wedding day, it made perfect sense that they chose the Gasparilla Inn & Club, and not just because it is absolutely breathtaking, but because of the legacy that the island holds for her family and the memories she made on that island with the love of her life.
Her best friend.
So that when they say their vows to one another, that it will be on the same street where they once promised their love to one another. Under those same Banyan trees. The same place where Brett once asked Sydney the most authentic and loving question of their lives.
If she would choose spend the rest of her life with him day after day. Year after year.
Sydney and Brett, from your Skype call to following along your adventure from Georgia to New York, we have felt like we have known you two for what feels like forever. Like we are just a group of friends who enjoy craft been together around a bonfire with our toes in the sand. Like we have had years worth of laughs and memories together. And though we know that isn’t really the case yet, we know that is exactly what your wedding day will be. A day filled with beauty, love, memories, and laughter, and we couldn’t be any more honored to be the ones to make that magic come to life for you two. So that when your future children look at your engagement and wedding photos, they can think “Wow… daddy really always loved mommy this much, didn’t he?”
So that when they look at your photos, they can see what we felt.
Hugs and lots of love,
Shauna and Jordon
